It’s no surprise that December is National Fruit Cake Month, but the month is actually full of other “national” food holidays, according to Foodimentary: National Pastry Day (9th), National Cocoa Day (12th), National Chocolate-Covered-Anything Day (16th) and National Egg Nog Day (24th, of course!). An EGG could cook your fruit cake, but for an all-out festive holiday dinner, put it to use for a Pork Crown Roast, Herbed-up Prime Rib from “Dr. BBQ”, or Cranberry Marinated Rack of Lamb. Our video of the crown roast includes easy instructions for tying the roast into a crown. Happy Holiday eating!

The reason for its name is apparent because once tied in a circle, it resembles a crown.

Smoked on the Big Green Egg
Cold smoking was once a means to preserve food. Today, it’s used to season food. The technique uses low heat (a temperature range of 70° to 80°F) and wood chips. Check out our video on how to set up for cold smoking. Your holiday dinner can start with one of our three appetizers, including Planked Brie with Cranberry Relish, Cherry-Smoked Mushrooms with Bacon or Makers Mark® Bourbon Glazed Cold-Smoked Salmon.

Stuff the Stocking
Most children around the world believe in a Christmas “gift bringer” – St. Nicholas, Santa Claus, Father Christmas or, in Italy, an old lady called Befana. In most of Europe, presents are left in shoes or boots. In the UK and the U.S., stockings hanging by a fireplace are common. Take a look at some of our popular stocking stuffers and some of our most wished-for EGGcessories. Note: you’ll need a really big and sturdy stocking for some of these.
